About our society

Hwange Conservation Society was established as a UK charity in 1992 to help protect the wildlife of Hwange National Park in Zimbabwe.

We are a UK based registered charity (No 1036153) and run purely on a voluntary basis which means all monies raised goes directly to help the park as we have no overheads to pay such as rent, wages, insurance etc.

Our aim is to support the National park and its environs by raising funds which are used to help protect the wildlife and support the surrounding community with such things as medical supplies, and school equipment.

Organisations we work closely with include Wildlife and National Parks Authority of Zimbabwe, Wildlife and Environment Zimbabwe a local Zimbabwean charity and SAVE Foundation of Australia.  We also work closely with organisations such as Kent Scout group who aid and assist with some of the larger projects we are often involved in.

Among our many projects are the following :

To date, we have raised in the region of £70,000 for our various projects, over £33,000 of which has been spent on the waterholes and water supply work.  We hope to continue with our support for the water supply and would ask anyone who can help us to contact us at any of the addresses below

Our latest donation as at June 2008 is over £11,000 worth of spare pipes, cement, fan belts, filters, oil and engine cleaner for the pumps.  All of these large donations are purchased in South Africa and sent by road to Hwange, duty fee. We have also recently donatied a PABX telephone system to the Wildlife Veterinary Unit(Dr. Chris Foggin)

As well as our support from British Airways, we gratefully acknowledge the help and support we receive from DHL Express and Servicepoint in the UK, as well as Airlink Cargo in South Africa who take our donations from British Airways flights landing in Johannesburg up to Bulawayo free of charge.
